Fufilling the GREAT COMISSION via WITNESSING: The REAL DEAL…….

  Matthew 28

The Great Commission

16Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Mark 16:14-29

14Later Jesus appeared to the Eleven as they were eating; he rebuked them for their lack of faith and their stubborn refusal to believe those who had seen him after he had risen.

15He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. 16Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”

19After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God. 20Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it.

This is another one of those videos from 2007 THAT I wanted to not leave back in that year, for the relevance of them is at an ALL TIME HIGH….especially at a time when many people rarely hear of what the Gospel is truly about. If someone were to come up to you, asking you to witness to two RANDOM STRANGERS, what would’ve been your response? Would you choose “Fight” or “TAKE FLLIGT” (i.e. Run Away)?

In all honesty, though many of us would automatically say the former, the reality is that we often choose the latter.

Whether it be with the co-worker we see on the job, or our peer in class, or any other person we see who may be in need of Hearing the GOOD NEWS of CHRIST, the reality is that we often are too AFRAID TO WITNESS. You all realize the classic line:

“I’ll get made fun of…”

“What if I get hurt?”

“I could never do that. I’m just not…CALLED to be an Evangelist

The list could go on, but as stated before, Christians (Myself included) are often too fearful to witness effectively……..but the sadder thing, though, is that it we may be afraid for NO REAL REASON…..FOR IT MAY BE EASIER THAN WE’VE BEEN TRAINED TO BELIEVE……

For example, Check out this video I discovered recently on the issue. It’s by an African American Evangelist team ( http://www.godtube.com/uvideos.php?UID=61149&type=public

Needless to say, it was quite interesting:
